Comedy Extraordinare Phyllis Diller Dead at 95 [VIDEO]

For those of us oldsters, not only was "groovy", "right on" , and "far out" part of our early vernacular, but yet another phrase that comes to mind, that today is considered passe, is "lounge act".

She was one of the very few who could wear cosmetic surgery to perfection, and for my parents 20th wedding anniversary, sis and I got them a pair of tickets to see Phyllis Diller.  Of course, we went along to the show as special guests.

Famed Film Director ‘Tony Scott’ Takes His Own Life [VIDEO]

While he may have been behind the lens instead of starring in front of the camera, Tony Scott was a Hollywood giant when it came to his trade.

His name may not be recognizable, except for those in the tinsel town who's who, but his Director status for such hits as "Beverly Hills Cop II", Man on Fire", "Enemy of the State", "Days of Thunder", "Top Gun" starring Tom Cruise, and "Crimson Tide" with Denzel Washington, made Tony Scott a well respected "A"-lister amongst the troops.

We've lost another "classic" biggee!  Real name "Ermes Efron Borgnino"

Often known for tough guy roles, it was a movie called "Marty" in 1955, a film about a man who fears his looks will never invite romance, that made Ernest Borgnine an instant Oscar winning star.  His career spanned seven decades in the movie 'biz' with stops in "From Here To Eternity", "Johnny Guitar", "Three Bad Men", "The Dirty Dozen", and "Poseidon Adventure", just to name a few.

TV Icon Andy Griffith Dead at 86 [VIDEO]

I would like to believe that going hand in hand with classic rock is classic television.  The two really are inseparable when it comes comparing great programming to over-the-top musical artistry.

The "Skipper" couldn't do it without "Gilligan", "Jimi" couldn't do it without the guitar; The Beverly Hillbillies would have choked without "Jethro"; "Styx", although still sounding great today, are not the same if Dennis DeYoung isn't ground breaking the "Tradewinds" in 1961; and on and on the cycle goes.
