New Film 'Imagines' a Life Inspired by John Lennon

Classic rockers are featuring quite a bit in the plots of movies these days. Last month, 'Not Fade Away,' a film about New Jersey teenagers inspired by the Rolling Stones to form a band, opened in theaters. This spring will see the beginning of production on 'Imagine,' in which a musician receives a letter of encouragement from John Lennon.

I was working on the air the night John Lennon was murdered. We played records back then. Commercials were recorded on 4-tracks, and Sunday church services came by way of reel-to-reel tape. There was a red telephone in the control room, and when it blinked (phones don't 'ring' inside a studio environment), not picking it up meant the D.J. career would be on hold.

As I was browsing through the internet last night, I stumbled across something that immediately grabbed my attention.

Being a fan of classic rock, I enjoy music from a variety of artists ranging from The Doobie Brothers to Led Zeppelin. When I came across a web page that claimed to have a "mash-up" of John Lennon and Van Halen, I have to admit I was kind of hesitant. I thought to myself, there is no way you can combine the smooth sounds of Lennon with Van Halen's guitar shredding.
