I had mine in 2002, when after falling asleep at the wheel at 70 miles per hour, I awoken to what can only be described as a guardian angel, driving my car down the only off ramp on a 45 mile stretch of California highway.

I remember opening my eyes as if I had just knocked out a 15 minute "power nap".  Very relaxed, and quite subdued, as my speed slowly reduced to an uneventful stop.  How did my foot get from the gas pedal to the brake pedal?  I  know I didn't cheat death, but rather felt I was still needed alive to hang around here.

No pun intended when saying I received a life changing  --  WAKE-UP call.

Parents will swallow hard. The US Dept. of Agriculture says it takes $234,900 to raise a kid, including food, shelter, and necessities. Depending upon your definition and your child’s definition of necessities, it could be $2 million, right? A kid has to have his Wii.

Further, the lunatics of such gibberish, actually make the guys in the "Dumb and Dumber" flick retain respectability.

Allow me to vent forthright.

I think I scored $2 per week from my parents to start, and then later on I got an extra $1.50 or $2 for mowing certain sections of the yard. That's how I could afford those hot eleven dollar jeans!

The average allowance nowadays is just over $16 a week or $65 per month, according to the American Institute of CPA's. That comes out to about $780 each year.

To continue promoting healty habits, the Junior League of Lufkin is sponsoring Camp Get Fit/Kids at the First United Methodist Church Christian Life Center next week.

And, I'm pretty sure that after playing two hours of kickball each day after school on heat searing pavement, that I was quite the little stinker -- if you know what I mean.

When I was in 7th grade, Joey Gowdalaba and I ignored the weekly fire alarm drill.  We each took two whacks from the principal's homemade paddle.  Don't know about Joey, but when my daddy heard the story of my open disobedience...well, you try sitting on that hard banana seat of your "Huffy" bicycle.

After a 5 to 2 semi-final win over West High School yesterday in Austin, the Hudson Lady Hornets play for the state championship tomorrow.

With a day off in Austin I'd have the urge to hit about five mexican restaurants for queso and burritos, but something tells me the Hudson team will avoid that. Rest up today and drink those protein shakes ladies!

The SFA Baseball Camps cover all phases of the game, regardless of skill level, and allow the necessary repetition time to see improvement in every skill. The day camps focus on hitting, pitching, defense and other offensive skills that will prepare the camper for competition.
