This may be the great debate at your house. The kids are begging for a phone so they can enter the world of Snapchat for themselves, and you're holding off as long as you possibly can.  What's the ideal age to let kids have a smart phone, and how does East Texas compare?

My dad is getting up there in years, but no teenager is going to out-emoji this guy!  He's determined to fully express himself through pics of beer mugs, corn in the husk, and Christmas trees. These are my amazing parents, and I am so proud of them.  Not only do they make great cows, but today is also their 43rd wedding anniversary.  Not many couples make it that far!

How long do you hold off before getting your kid a cell phone?

Kids may love it when East Texas gets sleet, ice, or snow, because it's usually a day off from school.  But what about Mom or Dad? They might have to be at work no matter what and cancellations throw a wrench into things.

We've heard the stats before, that it costs over half a million dollars to raise a child from age 0 to 18. That's the first child. The good news is, baby #2 is cheaper!

I love looking at all the back-to-school pics on social media this time of year. One of my sassy, fun (and kid-less) Facebook friends posted this on Monday, "Um...Did school start?" Haha! LinkedIn thinks it would be a good idea for our parents to come to work with us one day in November, because most of the time Mom and Dad don't have a clue what their sons and daughters do for a living. LinkedIn has introduced "Take a Parent to Work Day."  Is this a good idea?
