Where Did That Turkey Come From?

Texas doesn’t have bragging rights in terms of the biggest turkey-producing states, but it does produce its share.

Nine to ten million Texas turkeys are produced each year, and most of those come from Central and East-Central Texas, according to a map from Smithsonian Magazine.

Which state is the biggest turkey producer? I’ll give you the answer so you can impress your friends and family at the Thanksgiving feast today.

Maybe you’ve got a reminder for just about everything set on your phone. Now you can set a reminder to vote!

A new app is available for Texas voters that reminds you to vote, lets you check to make sure you’re registered, and helps you check for polling locations in Angelina County, or any neighboring county where you might be registered to vote. Gas is Cheap in Lufkin, By Comparison Anyway

Sure, California has its benefits. The weather is gorgeous, movie stars abound, and there are plenty of hotties walking up and down the street.

But how can anyone afford to live there? Be glad you live in East Texas, where drivers are enjoying some of the cheapest gas in the country

Texans Break World Record With Frito Pie

I have to admit, I didn’t try the delicacy that is Frito pie until I moved to Texas. Growing up in Nebraska we sometimes mixed chili, cheese, and saltine crackers together, but the genius of replacing the Saltines with Fritos just didn’t occur to us.

Texans are onto something! Frito Pie is delicious, and who cares how fattening.

We Texans broke a Guiness World Record on Monday with a Frito Pie that weighed over a thousand pounds. Some states might be ashamed, but in Texas its a badge we wear proudly. We just may need a Tums to go with our badge.

Is Texas Losing the Drawl?

Are we losin’ our drawl y'all?

A new study says Texas may be losing its twang. Do you agree?

If it’s true, the obvious answer may be because of the number of transplants that live in Texas. When a Chicago native moves to Texas they bring a northern accent and a lot of those people together can sort of squeeze out and disperse the yee haws.

Lubbock Museum Kills Two Mules For Public Display

Here's a story buried in the depths of obscurity, that is sure to stir controversy, and have animal rights activists gearing up for a protest.  Of course, it won't help the steadfast wrangling of each parties position, now that I brought it to light.

No Need to Call 911 for a Mosquito Bite

Yes, West Nile is a huge concern across Texas and 47 other US states right now.

Texas City Scores “Big” in Small Cities Contest

Well, another poll has come out, and I'm not sure who the people are that decide on the results, but if Texas is involved, and it's a favorable vote, then hey -- I'm all for believing in its truthfulness.

This time around, the vote was centered on the top 10 "best small cities", five of which I've seen up close and personal, and one that I actually lived in.

So, the winners are...

Austin Area Walmart Site of Early Morning Shooting

Another miscreant of society who probably doesn't have any responsibility in life because he's at an Austin area Walmart at 4:30 a.m. Sunday poppin' off a few rounds, 18 year old Soloman Onwukaife will undoubtedly unleash terror on society again, once he's let out of jail.

Unless we start giving the perpetrators a sentence befitting the crime, many more morons like Onwukaife wait in the wings to prove that shooting innocent people makes them a tough guy.

Never would have thought twenty years ago, that my television viewing today would feature a weekend marathon of "Murder By The Book", "Murder Mysteries", "Anatomy of a Murder", etc...

Heck, I grew up with "Columbo", "Cannon", and "Barnaby Jones"!

Texas Prisons Housing Less Inmates These Days

Hate to rain on a parade of allegedly good news, but not putting in my "two cents", would make this story feel rather empty.

The topic at hand is the number of prisoners in jail here in Texas.  Or, dare I say, the decline in incarcerations, which has dropped to its lowest total in four years.

Texas Boy Told He’s Too Big to Play Football

Six feet tall and 300 pounds sounds like a good size to play football. But apparently that's too big at age 12, and in that case league rules say the boy will have to stay on the sidelines.

Fox Sports Southwest did a story that many media outlets are covering, on the 12-year old boy from Mesquite, near Dallas, who was told after a weigh-in Sunday that he wouldn't be able to play.
