US 59

One person died Monday in an accident on US 59 involving two 18-Wheelers and a school bus. The road was still closed Tuesday morning because of the cleanup and investigation, and detours were set up. The Lufkin School District says three children and the driver were the only ones on board the bus at the time, and none of them needed treatment for anything other than minor injuries.

It may be a mess while construction is going on, but it should be worth it in the end. Isn't that the way road construction always goes? No pain no gain. Construction crews start work today on US 59 and they're shifting lanes at Loop 287. There may be traffic delays while drivers get use to that.
