Baytown, Texas is a little safer these days, and before the bad guys strike again, they should consider moseying through Baytown.

It all started when a knife wielding assailant jumped into the backseat of a van pulling out of a CVS parking lot.  At the wheel was super woman Dorothy Baker-Flugence, and she didn't waste one moment sizing up the life and death situation.  She knew she had her two children in the vehicle, aged two and five, and she immediately executed protective motherness, despite the imminent danger.

Giving the horn several blasts is a gimme, but how she managed to get off a 911 call is utterly amazing.  Then, she did what most crime pros will tell you to do - in the event someone involuntary enters your vehicle - drive it into something quickly.

And that's exactly what Baker-Flugence did.  Here's what she had to say after striking a telephone pole:

"I thought, if you swerve and hit the pole, he’s not wearing a seatbelt, he’ll go through the windshield or at least hit his head, and you can stop him. You can do something to make sure that he doesn’t hurt your kids. That’s all I was thinking of really, was just to get him away from my kids.”

By the way, the suspect, Ismael Martinez survived the impact of the crash, but Mom wasn't through with him yet.  Exiting the van after being punched in the face, Baker-Flugence intentionally ran over him just to get the point across.

Martinez now has serious back injuries, and once he's released from the hospital, he'll have plenty of time to realize he picked on the wrong woman.
