The Darkness have been spreading their enthusiasm and eccentric live shows to audiences for a decade-and-a-half and recently the British rockers brought their infectious energy to New York City’s Irving Plaza.

The band began with the raucous “Barabarian,” a track off of their latest album Last of Our Kind. During the night, the band also worked in other new tunes like “Roaring Waters” and “Mudslide.” Much of the set included anthems from their debut album Permission to Land. The crowd sang out to timeless songs like “Growing On Me,” “Stuck in a Rut,” “Get Your Hands Off of My Woman” and of course, “I Believe in a Thing Called Love.”

After well over a decade of music, frontman Justin Hawkins has managed to maintain his youthful charisma and charm onstage. On this night, you could spot Hawkins jumping off of the drum riser, making his way to the top of the balcony and engaging with the crowd while also keeping audiences smiling and laughing with his banter. When the Darkness come to town, put on your best floral shirt, striped pants and be sure to check them out if you want to have a damn good time.

Opening acts of the night included Bad Behaviour and UK rock act Ravenseye. Check out photos of The Darkness performing at Irving Plaza in our gallery above!
