Tim Gaines to Former Stryper Bandmates: ‘Grow Some Balls’ and Stand Up to Michael Sweet

Stryper

Tim Gaines has some words for his former Stryper bandmates, telling them to “grow some balls” and stand up to frontman Michael Sweet. Gaines also says that all he wants going forward is to make music, revealing he is working on new material with his group Faithsedge along with dedicating time to other projects.

“Thanks everyone for the comments to my previous post – both good and bad,” the bassist says on his official Facebook page. “Was good to be able to vent my frustrations with this whole mess. And it was good to read so many encouraging thoughts.”

“All I want to do is make music. And that is my focus from here on out,” he continues. “I’ve got a new band that I just started working with from Phoenix, featuring some really great players, and one heck of a vocalist. More on this to come in the following weeks. I am also getting ready to start recording the next Faithsedge album. I’ve been writing songs for my next solo album and I am getting rough copy together for my book. So there are several projects in the works. Thanks again and stay tuned for more…”

A few weeks ago, Gaines revealed he was no longer a member of the Christian rock band, having been served with a letter of termination in May of this year. The bass player claims he was ousted due to getting divorced, which the rest of the group refuted in a statement, saying their relationship with him had become “toxic.”

Yesterday, in a since deleted Facebook post, Gaines blasted the rest of Stryper. “My recent demise within the Stryper camp came about because I actually have testicles. I stood my ground when I was told to give up the woman I love (who is now my wife) or get fired,” he said. “I threatened to sue. I was ‘conveniently’ fired 10 days after my marriage to Brandee, on the grounds that I made some posts threatening to sue the band for wrongful termination. They called it ‘threats.'”

Gaines then singled out guitarist Oz Fox and drummer Robert Sweet in particular, telling them to stand up to Michael Sweet and the Stryper frontman’s “conniving wife.”

“My recommendation to Oz and Bob? Grow some balls and stand up to that pathetic one and his conniving wife, or just continue to live a life of mediocrity,” he wrote. “You both have been threatened with termination over the last several years. He has a million-dollar home. You rent and drive twenty-year-old broken-down cars. You both have NOTHING to show for your thirty-five years. Quit playing rock star and get a clue, dumbs–tz.”

Stryper has yet to comment on Gaines’ latest posts, with their last words on the matter coming in an official statement on Sept. 1 ending with the promise, “The best is yet to come!”
