There is nothing thorny about Tyler, Texas, and now through October 21, traveling there has never been a more rosy picture.

The 79th Texas Rose Festival kicked off today at 10 a.m.

The parade on Saturday morning at 9 a.m. could see 25,000+ spectators, so plan on arriving early for the best sidewalk seats money can't buy.

The fourteen acre Tyler Rose Garden is the largest rose garden in the nation with more than 38,000 rose bushes on display.

The theme for this year's event is 'Indochine: Year of the Dragon", and will be presided over by Rose queen Haley McGrede Anderson.
