VH1 Declares 11-11-11 National Metal Day

It's a headbanger's delight. Today, VH1 Classic is running 24 hours of metal-themed programming.

The first installment of the 11-part Metal Evolution documentary miniseries debuts, and you can check out the premiere of Season 9 of That Metal Show, which will feature a rare interview with Guns N' Roses frontman Axl Rose.

Metal Evolution Chapter 1: Pre-Metal will air at 9 CT tonight and will focus on artists like The Kinks, Deep Purple, Jimi Hendrix and Led Zeppelin.

That Metal Show will include an hour-long chat with Axl where he talks about people's misconceptions about him and his infamous issues with starting concerts late. Axl says he's always been a late arriver... He says "I lived right behind my school and I couldn't make it to class."

Other programs airing today on Vh1 Classic feature Ozzy Osbourne, Iron Maiden, Motley Crue and others.
