Vince Neil To Leave Motley Crue Following Band’s Las Vegas Residency?

Could Motley Crue‘s upcoming residency in Las Vegas be Vince Neil‘s last shows with the band? It’s a distinct possibility, as the singer says he’s contemplating leaving the Crue following the Sin City stint, which runs Feb. 3-19 at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino.

“It’s not definite, but I am thinking seriously about it,” Neil told the Las Vegas Sun. The residency follows Motley Crue’s most successful year of touring in their wildly successful 30-year career, including a summer tour with Poison and a winter U.K. trek with Def Leppard, which they just wrapped up.

Following the conclusion of that tour, Neil flew down to the Bahamas for a much deserved vacation aboard the yacht he maintains there. He spent his time relaxing, fishing — on one excursion he caught a 250-pound bull shark! – and thinking about his future plans.

Neil reported from the Bahamas, “I’m having a great time here  – I could stay a year! I’m sitting on my yacht, contemplating my future, and I’m not sure it will be with Motley Crue after Las Vegas. Great things are coming up and pushing me in another direction.”

“This is all about me thinking about the second half of my life, thinking about my future, and that future might not include Motley Crue after Vegas,” he continued. “There are so many opportunities that are in front of me that I’m really excited about. I just don’t want to look back later in life and regret that I didn’t pursue them.

He concluded: “I’m just not sure I can give these opportunities the time and effort I’ll need to and continue with the band. It’s been a great ride, and I’ve enjoyed every second of it, but being out here relaxing in this beautiful place has given me the chance to reflect on what direction I want the rest of my life to take. I’m really giving it a lot of thought.”

If he does step away from Motley Crue, it won’t be the first time. Neil previously left the band in 1992 following the release of ‘Decade of Decadence,’ only to rejoin in 1997. Maybe he just needs a little time away, maybe he’s trying to grab some publicity ahead of the Vegas shows or maybe his days fronting Motley Crue are really numbered. Only time will tell.
