Blue Bell voluntarily took its ice cream off the shelves because of worries over listeria, and with summer coming up ice cream junkies are wondering when the Fudge Brownie Nut and other addictive flavors are coming back.

KHOU says production has stopped at the Blue Bell plant in Brenham while the recall is in effect, and there's no timetable yet for when the Blue Bell tubs might be back in the grocery store freezer case.  Scientists are at the plant now trying to figure out where the listeria came from, while the company tries to figure out how to prevent bacteria from getting into the ice cream in the future.

The recall has been in effect for about 10 days now, and if you have Blue Bell in your freezer the company says you shouldn't eat it out of caution.

I love Blue Bell so much I'll eat it straight out of the tub, and there is a void in my freezer.  But I'm sure Blue Bell will be back bigger and better than ever, and they've said they're committed to getting it right.  I hope that time comes soon.  We'll be waiting with a spoon!
