Meet the Full Cast of Starz’s ‘American Gods’ in Bloody New Trailer
Anyone not in attendance of SXSW has gone a good long while without fresh American Gods footage, and both Bryan Fuller and Starz are here to quench your thirst. Meet the full complement of old and new Gods, as a bloody new trailer teases a glorious war, win or lose.
Ahead of its April 30 premiere, American Gods debuted a brand-new trailer for Shadow Moon’s introduction into this crazy world, featuring first looks at Kristin Chenoweth’s Easter, Orlando Jones’ Mr. Nancy, and more. The new trailer also looks into the various Gods’ history, which itself will form a central component of each episode.
For those unfamiliar with Sandman creator Neil Gaiman’s novel, so reads the Starz American Gods synopsis:
“American Gods” posits a different kind of war brewing—one between Old Gods and New. The traditional Old Gods, with mythological roots from around the world, fear irrelevance as their believers die off or are seduced by the money, technology, and celebrity offered by the New Gods. Shadow Moon (Ricky Whittle) is an ex-con who, left adrift by the recent death of his wife, becomes bodyguard and traveling partner to conman Mr. Wednesday (Ian McShane). But in truth, Mr. Wednesday is a powerful old deity, on a cross-country mission to build an army and reclaim his lost glory.
In addition to Corbin Bernsen as Vulcan, Kristin Chenoweth as Easter, Pablo Schreiber as Mad Sweeney, Gillian Anderson as Media, Crispin Glover as Mr. World, Orlando Jones as Mr. Nancy, Dane Cook as Robbie, Jonathan Tucker as Low-Key Lyesmith, Yetide Badaki as Bilquis and Bruce Langley as “Technical Boy,” Gods features The 100 star Ricky Whittle as Shadow Moon, Ian McShane as Mr. Wednedsay and Emily Browning as Shadow’s wife Laura Moon.
We’ll likely see more soon, but watch the first American Gods trailer below, and stay tuned for the April 30 premiere.
