‘Archer’ Transforms into Noir ‘Dreamland’ With Full Season 8 Trailer
There’s a mystery dancing around the edges of Archer Season 8, which reboots its core cast and premise to that of a noir Dreamland after that deadly Season 7 cliffhanger. There’s plenty of mystery in Dreamland as well, judging by the first full trailer.
Now set for an April 5 premiere on FXX (not FX), Archer: Dreamland brings out the whole cast of characters in an extended Entertainment Weekly trailer, including a decidedly non-cyborg Barry. Malory is of course the biggest mobster in Los Angeles, rival to Archer’s private eye, while lounge singer Lana isn’t keeping too far away from this reality’s Sterling:
So reads the new synopsis:
Archer is an animated, half-hour comedy that revolves around the hardboiled private eye Sterling Archer and his quest to find his partner’s killer in 1947 Los Angeles. The case proves to be more difficult than expected after Archer quickly gets mixed up in a deadly game of tug of war between Los Angeles’ most powerful crime bosses. Every clue leads Archer further away from his goal and deeper into a mystery involving kidnapping, prostitution and drug addiction.
Worth noting, co-creator Matt Thompson explained at New York Comic-Con last year that Woodhouse is the partner in question, as a tribute to voice actor George Coe. Coe passed away in 2015, leaving the character largely absent from the series since, while the premise also rewrites backstory and relationships for all of the main characters.
Archer has also been renewed through Season 10 (with the possibility to conclude there), but stay tuned by checking out the teasers below.
