Armed Forces Day Is May 19th In Lufkin…And Bringing Fun For Everyone!
The 7th Annual Armed Forces Day is coming up on May 19th, at Freedom Homes in Lufkin.This is a day to honor not only veterans, but also active-duty military members and first responders.
American Legion #113 is putting on this event, and they're pulling out all the stops for it. There will be live music from local artist, Bryan Harkness, free hot dogs and drinks, hourly prize drawings for vets, active-duty military and first responders, raffles, and there will even be a silent auction that benefits the Veteran Family Scholarship Fund, Veteran Assistance programs, youth and children's programs, and more. There will even be craft and coloring booths for the kids, a fly fishing demonstration, and more.
Also, veterans can check out information booths for Texas Veteran Commission, Texas Health and Human Services, Lawn and Outdoor service and VA Benefits, among others.
Armed Forces Day kicks off on Saturday, May 19th with an opening ceremony at 10:00 AM, and lasts until 2:00 PM. If you haven't been to Freedom Homes in Lufkin, it's located at 206 South Medford Drive (that's on the corner of loop 287 and Lufkin Avenue).
