It has been bitterly cold the past few weeks and with more winter weather coming our way, our thoughts turn to people in need of shelter, food, and more. The homeless in our area are about to get a blessing from a great, local organization.

If you are looking to make a difference in the lives of the homeless community in Lufkin and Nacogdoches there is a group of dedicated people that could use some help this Saturday, January 14, 2022. Blessing Bags For N.A.C. (Nacogdoches & Angelina Counties) is a local 501c3 non-profit that serves both Nacogdoches and Angelina county just like the name says.

They are putting together a handout and are looking for volunteers to put together and give out blessing bags. They will meet at 10 am Saturday at Memorial Baptist Church in Lufkin to put the bags together.

You Still Have Time To Donate

There is a lot of work to be done before they can go and hand out these bags to the homeless. They could use a few items to help them complete sack lunches that they are including in the bags.

  • Bread
  • Lunch meat or peanut butter & jelly
  • Cheese
  • Individual applesauce, jell-o, fruit, or pudding cups
  • Snack cakes
  • Crackers (peanut butter or cheese filled)
  • Individual bags of chips
  • Bottles of water
  • Ziplock sandwich bags

The goal is to make at least 100 sack lunches. You can drop off these items at Memorial Baptist Church, 904 North John Redditt in Lufkin today. (Friday, January 14th, 2022)
