A few years ago, I heard someone in Nacogdoches refer to themselves as a B.I.N. (pronounced like the name 'Ben'). I didn't think much about it at the time. However, I kept hearing more people in the community use the term.

After doing some research on my own - in other words texting any and all of my friends and family members that currently live in Nacogdoches - I was surprised to learn that I myself am actually a B.I.N. Now that I know that I'm actually quite proud of it.

What Does B.I.N. Stand For?

B.I.N. is an acronym that stands for Born In Nacogdoches. It refers to anyone that was born within the Nacogdoches city limits. I think it's actually a pretty cool concept. Even though I didn't grow up in Nacogdoches, I can still claim the title of B.I.N. because of my birth in Nacogdoches Medical Center in 1994.

There are B.I.N.s all over the nation when you think about it. There's even a chance that a B.I.N. could become President of the United States one day! Can you imagine POTUS being from Nacogdoches? Pretty intriguing stuff, if you ask me.

Are There Perks for Being a B.I.N.?

As of right now - and for the foreseeable future - there are no actual perks for claiming the title of B.I.N. This is just one of those internal wins for yourself. I suppose there are sometimes when you might be able to use it for bragging rights, but people are more than likely going to brush it off - we'll just say they'll do it out of jealousy, right?

But, like I said earlier, I'm proud to be a B.I.N. Nacogdoches has been good to me, and I'll hold onto that title!
