Some parts of Deep East Texas could be defined as digital deserts. There are places where you can't get high-speed internet no matter your means.

Right now in Nacogdoches the most internet available for residents and businesses is 1 Gig. In some major metropolitan areas, you can get much more. UT in Austin boasts 100G internet speeds.

Vexus Fiber has announced plans to build in Nacogdoches and the surrounding areas. They will for the first time in our area offer multi-gigabit internet speed.

What About My House?

Vexus Fiber will be introducing more than 15,000 residences and businesses to symmetrical multi-gigabit speed internet. They have put their money where their mouth is to make this happen.

The $20 million fiber-optic network project is set to start in the Spring of 2022 and should take about 18 months to complete. We have waited this long so what's another year or so for fiber.

There is no clear indication that any already underserved areas will have access. They are touting 10G connections. If that actually happens Nacogdoches will be a Gigacity, instead of just a Gigcity.
