Most of us try not to make the same mistake twice, it’s always good to learn from your prior mistakes but one person on parole out of Cherokee County wishes he would have learned his lesson the first time. On Thursday, July 7th the Cherokee County Special Investigations Unit arrested Christopher Nichols on his way to check in with his Parole Officer as he had crystal ice methamphetamine, Xanax, and marijuana inside his vehicle.  

The details were released on social media by the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office days after the arrest took place. This special operation included law enforcement personnel from the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, Jacksonville Police Department, and Bullard Police Department. The incident began like so many other busts as a traffic stop was made on the suspect vehicle around 4:00 pm on Highway 69 just north of Rusk, Texas.

The Suspect Was Quick to Say Where He Was Going 

Quickly after the initial traffic stop Nichols made it known that he was headed toward a meeting with his parole officer. During the traffic stop the Special Investigations Unit did a search of the suspect's vehicle and it didn’t take long to locate a variety of drugs.  

The Bulk of the Drugs Found Was Methamphetamine 

48 grams of crystal ice methamphetamine was found in the vehicle along with the Xanax and marijuana. Christopher Nichols is now facing charges of manufacturing or delivering a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, and driving while license invalid enhanced. His bond was set at $105,500. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
