Chireno Lit Up Christmas With A Dazzling Display
When people think about going to see Christmas lights around here, they think of going to the larger cities like Nacogdoches or Lufkin. Not because they're better than any of our smaller towns, but because they have more people, naturally you get to see more Christmas decorations. It's simple math: More people and more houses = more decorations.
However, some people in our smaller communities go all out with their Christmas decorations. I discovered this on Christmas Eve when I was driving through Chireno. Now you have to realize, Chireno is a town of less than 400 people. It doesn't have all the things that our larger cities have. But, there is someone in that town that puts enough effort into their Christmas decorations that makes it rival the bigger areas.

The property that I'm talking about can't even be seen from Highway 21. We had to turn onto Main Street (or the TX-34 Loop) and drive about a quarter of a mile, just out of sight of the main highway. But once we got there, the Christmas lights lit up the area.
They had all different kinds of inflatable Christmas decorations, a working ferris wheel, and of course had tons of Christmas lights all over the property. Needless to say, I was impressed by the entire setup. I think that I was so impressed because I wasn't expecting it. I figured that some of the city buildings would decorations and that several houses would have lights.
The pictures that I was able to take don't really do the entire setup justice, mainly because I wasn't able to stop and walk through all of it. I had to keep on driving. Take a look for yourself:
