Meet Alan and Susan Sowards, The Newest Community Rockstar Couple
Another week means another Community Rockstar, or in this case, a pair of Community Rockstars. This week's rockstars are well known in Deep East Texas not just because of popularity, but also because of their commitment to the community.
Alan & Susan Sowards are the Newest Deep East Texas Community Rockstars
Alan and Susan Sowards have been nominated and selected as this week's Community Rockstars. You may recognize them as the owners of Susu's Popcorn and Candy Cafe in Nacogdoches and Lufkin. And if you know them, you know that they are doing awesome things for the community as well.
According to the nomination that we received, the Sowards "are super friendly and eager to support the community whether it's through popcorn or story time at a local school." They went on to say that "Susu's was named one of the top friendliest places in the south by Southern magazine and it's definitely because Alan and Susan are so warm and welcoming."

Something else they mentioned was, "Their popcorn shop offers fundraisers for nonprofits and popcorn to celebrate every event!" The nominator closed with this, and it sums up the reason why the Sowards are the newest Community Rockstars: "The sweetest part of the whole experience is the kind and friendly environment the Sowards have cultivated not just in their shop, but also in the community."
And all of these things together - the community involvement, the welcoming attitude, the friendly environment - are the reasons why this couple deserves a shoutout. So, congratulations to Alan and Susan Sowards, this week's Deep East Texas Community Rockstars!
