Julie & Todd Alston, a Deep East Texas Community Rockstar Duo

It's Friday once again, so that means it's time to name another Deep East Texas Community Rockstar! This week, we're going to do something a little different. This time, we've got not one, but TWO Community Rockstars that we're recognizing. It's actually a husband-and-wife team.

Julie & Todd Alston, Our Very First Community Rockstar Duo

Julie and Todd Alston are the latest additions to our Community Rockstars list. They are the founders of Church in the Park, a ministry to the homeless based out of Kiwanis Park in Lufkin. It was started in 2016.

According to the nominator, "They provide breakfast, Bible study, and showers in their mobile shower truck each Sunday morning." They went on to say, "On Wednesday evenings, they provide dinner, Bible study, and take people to a local laundromat to wash their clothes."

The nomination that was provided closed with this: "Julie and Todd do this ministry because of their deep love for God and compassion for the unhoused community in Lufkin and surrounding areas."

So, because of the work that they're doing, the Alstons were nominated and selected as this week's Deep East Texas Community Rockstars. As with the other rockstars, they'll be receiving a framed certificate from Classic Rock Q107 and Zion Auto Glass and a gift certificate to Lone Star Charlie's in Lufkin. Congratulations to Julie and Todd Alston on being named this week's Deep East Texas Community Rockstars and thank you for what you're doing for the Deep East Texas community!
