Eddie Vedder, X + More to Rock Inaugural 2016 Ohana Festival

You can add another great music weekend to the growing list of U.S. festivals as the Ohana Festival is set to launch in late August at the Doheny State Beach in Dana Point, Calif. The inaugural run of the two-day festival finds Eddie Vedder and alternative songstress Lana Del Rey in the headline spots.

Vedder will headline the opening night, Saturday, Aug. 27, with support from Elvis Costello, Band of Horses, X, Mudhoney, White Reaper, Jack Irons, Lily Meola and more. Del Rey leads night two (Sunday, Aug. 28), with City and Colour, Cat Power, Corinne Bailey Rae, Ryan Bingham, Jonny Two Bags and Wilderado filling out a more alternative-powered bill.

The opening day should be of note because Vedder is part of the same bill that includes Jack Irons, the drummer who famously recommended the singer to Pearl Jam and later manned the kit for a period with the group. It is not known if the two will collaborate during their sets at the festival though.

In addition to offering a full day of fun in the sun, the Ohana festival will donate a portion of the proceeds to the San Onofre Parks Foundations, a non-profit outfit that works with California's State Parks to preserve and enhance the state's coastal parks. Fans can also take advantage of the Doheny State Beach beauty, partake in the craft beers, wine, cocktails and enjoy artisan food and food truck dining options available as well.

Plus, there will be a special pre-festival luau taking place Aug. 26 at the Ritz Carlton in Laguna Niguel, Calif., hosted by comedian Jeff Ross and featuring music from the John Doe Experiment.
