Frank Carter + Fans Share Ways to Combat Anxiety in New Video

Frank Carter recently laid his soul bare with the deeply personal track "Anxiety" off his forthcoming album End of Suffering, and the heft of the subject matter lent itself to all sorts of possibilities for a video. Carter and his band the Rattlesnakes have now offered up an uplifting and encouraging video in which he and a number of fans put the attention on anxiety and ways in which they deal with it.

The clip, seen above, rolls out across a mobile social media feed, initially starting with Carter typing in a search for "anxiety" and getting a pop-up message stating, "Posts with words or tags like you're searching for often encourage behavior that can cause harm or even lead to death. If you're going through something difficult, we'd like to help."

As part of Carter’s passion to remove the stigma surrounding mental illness, he recently announced the launch of #abetterplaceforyouandme, an online initiative in conjunction with the U.K. charity, CALM, to provide a safe forum for people to discuss ways of overcoming and living with anxiety. After typing in the hashtag, viewers are treated to a scroll of photo and video testimonials in which activity seems to be one of the most popular ways of combatting personal anxiety. Posters offer up suggestions like photography, walking dogs, biking, heading to a record shop and other ideas to lessen their stresses.

Carter himself has been very candid about his own struggles, bowing out of a tour in 2017 to address his own mental health. He's also spoken publicly about his battles with anxiety, telling NME, “There’s never been a more important time to ask questions about how we are feeling. You know, ‘truly, are you OK’? No one really asks that, they just ask what are you doing? What are you wearing? Who are you with?”

"Anxiety" appears on the upcoming Frank Carter and the Rattlesnakes album, End of Suffering, due May 3. The album is available to pre-order via a variety of platforms here.
