Deep East Texas Left Off Friendliest Places to Live in Texas List

When it comes to friendliness, I'd say that Deep East Texas is pretty high up there, in my opinion. Sure, I might be a bit biased since I grew up here and have been here my whole life, but I still think that it's a lot friendlier than a lot of places that I've visited. However, one list doesn't share the same opinions that I do.

No Deep East Texas Towns on Friendliest Places to Live in Texas List

According to the 2026 Friendliest Places to Live in Texas list from Nextdoor.com, no Deep East Texas towns made the list. There are 20 different cities, towns, communities, whatever, on the list, but none were over here behind the Pine Curtain. The closest one to us was Holly Lake Ranch, which is north of Tyler. I know that that's technically East Texas, but it's still not Deep East Texas.

As you can see, there was no Nacogdoches, no Lufkin, no San Augustine, NO DEEP EAST TEXAS.

I'm hoping that the people that compiled this list just haven't spent enough time in this area. Or, unfortunately, maybe they just had one bad experience. All I know is that I'm still sure that our region could have some of the friendliest places in Texas.
