Get Free Whataburgers at Buckner Shoe Drive Wednesday in Lufkin
What are some things that Texas is known for?
Of course, there are way too many to name, but for the sake of this article, I'm concentrating on two things. Whataburger and the huge giving hearts of Texans.
Whataburger is a wonderful friend to the East Texas community. For years and years, they have given back whether through sponsoring banners at local ballfields, teaming with us at KICKS 105 to award $1000 grants every semester to area educators, or by having special fundraisers at their restaurants for various organizations. This Wednesday, Whataburger will be hosting one of those fundraisers for an outstanding East Texas agency.
Wednesday evening, between 5-8 p.m., bring a pair of new shoes to the Whataburger location at Highway 94 and Loop 287 in Lufkin and receive a free Whataburger. Those shoes will go to a giant shoe drive that is being organized by Buckner in Lufkin. The shoe drive has been going on for several weeks and will end this week. All shoes collected will then be delivered to the Junior League of Lufkin's Back to School Bonanza which will be held later this month.
What type and size of new shoes should you bring?
Buckner is looking mainly for shoes that kids would use at schools, such as athletic shoes such as sneakers or canvas-type shoes. Youth 1 to adult 9 are the sizes that are being asked for, the larger sizes usually are the most popular.
How many pairs of new shoes can you bring?
Quite a few, if you'd like. It's one free Whataburger per one new pair of shoes per person. So, if you have several pairs of new shoes, bring several folks in your vehicle and get ready to get your free Whataburgers. Just bring your new shoes to the tent at the Whataburger at Highway 94 and Loop 287 and you'll be handed a card for a free Whataburger for every new pair of shoes that you bring. You can use the card when you get it, or you can use it at a later time.
What does Buckner do and how else can you help them?
For well over 20 years, Buckner has been helping families and individuals in the East Texas area. Thanks to them, many people have been able to get back on their feet, get college degrees, and much more. Its mission statement is to follow the example of Jesus by serving vulnerable children and families. Take a look at their history and services by clicking here.
