Happy Ending For Two-Year-Old Found Wandering The Streets In Nacogdoches, Texas
On Tuesday, June 7th, 2022 at around 3 pm the Nacogdoches Police Department asked for the public's help in locating a parent of a two-year-old child. The child was found wandering around the area of East Austin Street and Pecan Street.
This had to be a scary time for this toddler. The Nacogdoches Police Department arrived on the scene quickly and the officers cared for the child, while waiting on Child Protective Services to assume care.
Within the hour the child's parents were located and the officers are hoping to reunite them soon. CPS was assisting with the child's care.
Parents Were Found After NPD Posted Picture To Facebook
The Nacogdoches Police Department posted a picture of the child to Facebook and immediately got almost 700 shares. The child's parents were located quickly due to NPD's use of social media to get the word out.
Reports of missing children or finding a missing child is one of the most emotionally challenging calls our officers go on. Many of the officers have children of their own, so any calls that involve children are especially taxing.
Reuniting a child with their parents has to be very rewarding, but can be very stressful for everyone involved. I am so glad that story had a happy ending for everyone involved.
If You Find A Lost Child, What Should You Do?
If you are ever tasked with finding a lost child, as a citizen your first instinct should be to call the authorities or 911. Keep the child in the immediate area, while you wait for the police to come.
This way if someone is actively looking for the child they can show up quickly.
