BJ Thompson and Xavier Gipson had stellar football careers for the SFA Lumberjacks. Thompson, a defensive end, is one of the best to have ever lined up as an outside rusher for SFA. Gipson holds numerous receiving records for the 'Jacks and will go down as one of the best receivers in SFA's history.

Now, it's time for the rest of America to learn about their talent.

Both Thompson and Gipson survived the final roster cuts of their respective NFL teams and are on track to be playing on Sundays in 2023. BJ Thompson, who was drafted in the 5th round, will be playing for the defending World Champions (Kansas City), and Gipson, an undrafted free agent, will be on special teams and catching passes from Aaron Rodgers with the New York Jets.

Even though both Thompson and Gipson survived the final roster cuts, the next week or so could be nerve-racking as some teams could make some final changes via the waiver wire or through last-second trades.

Bad News for A Former Dragon and Panther

Josh Thompson, who played for the Nacogdoches Dragons, was waived from the Tennessee Titans with an 'injury designation'. The former Texas Longhorn saw some time in the secondary and special teams for the Titans in 2022.

Meanwhile, Keke Coutee, a former Lufkin Panther standout receiver, was released by both the New Orleans Saints and the Miami Dolphins during their 2023 training camps. Coutee is an NFL veteran who started his professional player career with the Houston Texans in 2018.

Here's hoping they both get picked up by an NFL team for their roster or practice team over the next week.
