The Texas State Forest Festival presented by Brookshire Brothers is coming up September 14-17 at the George H. Henderson Jr., Expo Center in Lufkin.

This East Texas tradition presented by Brookshire Brothers attracts over 13,000 people to Lufkin with thrilling competitions, yummy festival food, fun carnival rides,  exciting shows, and much more!

Let's run down just a few of this year's attractions.

Big Axe BBQ Competition

Saturday, September 16, some of the area's best grillers will be competing in several categories. This year's event is sanctioned by the International Barbecue Cookers Association (IBCA).

East Texas Cheerleading and Pom/Dance Championships

For many years, dancers and cheerleaders from area high schools and middle schools have competed in this event. The event takes place on Sunday, September 17 and you'll get to see squads from Lufkin, Huntington, Hudson, PCA, and more.

Children's Festival

The Children's Festival is an area full of fun and hands-on activities that run all 4 days of the 38th Annual Texas State Forest Festival. All activities within the Children’s Festival are free and full of family fun. Children can enjoy games, crafts, educational activities, and much more.

High Diving Pirates of the Caribbean

An amazing display of acrobatics and comedy as nationally-known high divers perform as pirates while demonstrating Plank (springboard) and Mast diving (tower) comedy, clown diving and an incredible High Dive from the top of the 80-foot high mast of the ship. Stick around after the show as the divers meet out front of the pool to sign autographs and take pictures!

The Butterfly Encounter

Experience the fun and magic of being surrounded by butterflies. You can actually feed the butterflies in this exhibit.
