PHOTOS: Wild and Crazy Halloween Costumes From Banita Creek Hall

The annual $1005 Halloween Party at Banita Creek Hall in Nacogdoches is always a wild and crazy night, but when it falls on a Saturday...the costumes get crazier. The contests are divided into three sections: Best Male, Best Female, and Best Group. The top prize in each category is $335. The costumes are judged on audience response.

My Favorite Costumes Of The Night

The two things that impress me when it comes to Halloween costumes are creativity and just how much time went into putting the costume(s) together. In the group category, I really liked the bad minions (feature image). The Madagascar entry (which won best group) was also one of my favorites.

I was also a fan of the Smurfs, which obviously took a lot of time to put together.

Sometimes It All Comes Down To Hyping The Crowd

As I mentioned earlier, the audience determines the winners. A decibel meter gauges the response. Many times, the crowd yells the loudest for the craziest, sexiest, funniest, and/or most elaborate costumes. Of course, it also helps to have a lot of friends in the crowd or to be able to make a connection with them. The winning male entry was dressed as Bill Nye, the Science Guy. He basically wore a white lab coat, but the crowd went wild for him.

The winners were Bill Nye (Best Male), Madagascar (Best Group), and I'm not quite sure who the winning Female was supposed to be (something to do with her Hawaiian name tag), but they are all pictured below.
