Winning Powerball Ticket Sold...at a Castle

Monday night, the six numbers were drawn for the $812 Powerball jackpot. Those numbers were 12-21-42-44-49 and 1 for the Powerball. One person matched all the numbers. The estimated cash-out value of the jackpot is $425 million.

According to lottery officials, the winning ticket was purchased at Food Castle in Grand Blanc, Michigan. The city of nearly 8,000 residents is a suburb of Flint, Michigan.

I did some quick research and it looks like Food Castle stocks a limited supply of groceries, a large inventory of liquor, beer, and wine, and they serve some highly-rated pizzas. Oh, looks like they have FREE air out front as well.

And, of course, Food Castle sells lottery tickets. Whoever owns the business should be receiving a nice lump of cash for selling the jackpot ticket, and they seem to be pretty excited about it.

Another Texas Millionaire

This makes the third straight Powerball drawing that has produced a Texas millionaire. According to Texas Lottery officials, someone purchased a winning Powerball ticket at a Murphy Express in Laredo.

The person who bought the ticket added the extra PowerPlay dollar to double their winnings to $2 million.

On December 30, the Powerball drawing produced a $2 million winner in Tomball, Texas. Previously, on December 27, someone in Katy, Texas purchased a winning ticket worth $2 million.

Powerball will now go back to a $20 million jackpot for the next drawing on Wednesday, January 3. Meanwhile, the Mega Millions jackpot will be worth $114 million for tonight's drawing (1/2/24).
