According to a post on the the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Facebook Page, two persons have been arrested in connection with an Aggravated Kidnapping that occurred at a residence on Greenville Street in Wells, Texas.

The report states:

"...on Tuesday, January 24th, 2023, officials with the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office met with two adults (victims), at the Wells Police Department, who reported that they had forcibly been held captive at their residence the previous night."

It was reported that Wesley Wade Wallace and Alice Marie Hayes allegedly forced their way into the victim’s residence on Greenville Street by holding them at gunpoint. Once inside the residence, the victims said that Wallace and Hayes threatened them if they tried to escape or notify law enforcement.

It was further reported that Wallace and Hayes terrorized the victims throughout the night with firearms and knives. The victims were able to flee from the location when Wallace and Hayes fell asleep.

Once leaving the scene, the victims went to the Wells Police Department to inform them of the incident.

After gathering information, Investigators with the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office began an initial investigation. During the course of the investigation, a search warrant was obtained. Aggravated Kidnapping warrants were also issued for the arrest of Wallace and Hayes.

On Tuesday, January 24th, at approximately 5:30pm, members of the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, Cherokee County Regional SWAT Team, and the Wells Police Department executed the search warrant at the residence. During the execution of the search warrant numerous items of evidence were collected.

Arrested at the scene were:

  • Wesley Wade Wallace, 38 year old white male – Aggravated Kidnapping with a Deadly Weapon (Felony 1)
  • Alice Marie Hayes, 30 year old white female – Aggravated Kidnapping with a Deadly Weapon (Felony 1)
  • Chad Joseph Campbell, 42 year old white male – Felony warrant out of another agency
