Guess Who's Coming to Thanksgiving Dinner?

This Thanksgiving, along with family and friends, you may have an uninvited guest...

Rain, and lots of it.

After a big meal of turkey and all the trimmings and desserts, one of our Thanksgiving traditions includes heading outside to throw the football around.  It doesn't come close to burning off the calories from the massive feast, but at least it keeps us from becoming one with the couch and/or recliner.

This year, however, it looks like mud boots and umbrellas will be the backyard fashion trend at many East Texas Thanksgiving gatherings.

When is the Rain Coming, and How Much Rain Will We Get?

The latest forecast from the National Weather Service indicates that the high probability of rain will start in the early morning hours of Thursday and continue all the way through late Thanksgiving night. Rain chances will be 80%-90% during the morning hours and 60%-70% during the afternoon and evening hours.

Most of the weather models show that the Pineywoods could receive anywhere from an inch to over 3 inches of rain on Thursday. The National Weather Service is forecasting 2.04 inches of rain for us on Thanksgiving, in case you wanted to get specific.

Some thunderstorms could pop up on Turkey Day for our neck of the woods. A strong to severe storm is not out of the question according to the Storm Prediction Center in Oklahoma, however, they believe that the best chance for severe weather will be confined to Houston and westward down the I-10 corridor.

By the way, if you're planning on doing some early morning Black Friday shopping, rain chances will have dropped to about 30% for Friday morning.
