East Texas Weather Outlook – Beware of Wednesday
Here We Go Again
Another round of winter-time severe weather is expected across parts of the south, and Deep East Texas is in the heart of the area with the highest probability of strong storms.
Over the past few months, east Texas, northern Louisiana, and southern Arkansas have often been highlighted as the zone most likely to incur the highest likelihood of severe storms whenever a cold front or dry line makes its way across the US. That pattern looks to continue this week according to the Storm Prediction Center.
Watch Out for Wednesday
Beware not only of the Addams girl who is full of woe and sarcastic behavior...
...but beware of the storms that will be kicked up by a mid-week cold front that is expected to push across the Pineywoods on Wednesday. A few strong to severe storms are possible in our region. Right now forecasters believe the biggest threat from these cells will be strong straight-line winds. However, a tornado or two is not out of the question.
An inch of rain should be the norm for Deep East Texas with this system. That's not too bad, but the ground is still rather soaked, so some minor flooding with a passing downpour could occur.
Daytime Danger
As has been the case with previous severe weather situations in our area, the worst of the storms are expected to move through our area during the daytime hours of Wednesday. It's looking like the heaviest rain and strongest storms will happen between 6 am and noon on Wednesday. That outlook may change over the next day or two, and we'll be sure to update any alterations to the forecast.
Cooler temperatures will filter into the Pineywoods Thursday through the weekend with highs in the 50s and 60s.
