It's high school football playoff time in Texas. A number of Deep East Texas teams are gearing up for their bi-district showdowns that are coming up this Thursday and Friday at stadiums across the Pineywoods.

The top four teams in each district (2A-6A classifications) advance into this first-round action. First-place teams will square off with 4th place finishers, while the 2nd and 3rd place teams will tangle against each other. There will be some nasty blowouts, but there should also be some classic match-ups.

Corrigan-Camden vs Garrison

This is my pick for the East Texas game of the week.  This battle of the Bulldogs will take place Friday night in Henderson. Corrigan-Camden suffered their only loss of the season last week in a district title showdown with Centerville.

Meanwhile, Garrison has suffered two close district losses to Joaquin and top-ranked Timpson. Garrison and Joaquin could easily be district champs in many other Class 2A districts across the state.

This has the makings of an epic clash.  I'm not making a prediction of who will win, but I believe the two will be separated by no more than a touchdown.

Keep Up With the Scores
