Whataburger is one of the most recognized Texas brands. A big reason for that is great food like Patty Melts, Taquitos, Honey Butter Chicken Biscuits, and your standard Double Meat - Double Cheese Whataburger.

Another reason, especially right here in Deep East Texas, is the numerous ways they give back to the community. For the past several years, Whataburger has teamed up with KICKS 105 for Teacher of the Day.

How it Works

Just go to our KICKS 105 website or KICKS 105 app and click on the 'Teacher' link. That's where you can nominate an area educator and tell us why he or she deserves to be our winner.

Towards the end of each semester, a teacher is drawn to win the $1,000 classroom grant. Once that teacher is chosen, we contact the principal of the school so that we can arrange a surprise visit to present the teacher with the great news and the oversized check.

Our latest winner is Mrs. KK Brown, a kindergarten teacher at Central Elementary. We were allowed to surprise her during their kindergarten graduation ceremony.

Here's what was said about Mrs. Brown on her nomination form:

This sweet lady goes above and beyond for her students and her employers. Mrs. Brown taught my son in kindergarten and has always kept up with him and continues to be a part of his life, just like she does with all children she teaches. I feel she doesn't only love the kids but also enjoys seeing them grow and turn into great students. She will not hesitate to be the first to start a fundraiser or help anyone no matter the age!! She is a great asset to Central and needs and deserves to be recognized!!!

We'll be surprising another teacher at the end of the Fall semester, so be thinking about teachers that you'd like to nominate. Here's a look at our previous Whataburger Teacher of the Day winners.
