Two of Texas Most Wanted Child Sex Offenders Were Just Captured
The Texas Department of Public Safety is reporting that two people on their Top Ten Most Wanted Fugitives/Sex Offenders Lists were captured on Tuesday, September 24.
Joey Ray Gonzalez, a Texas 10 Most Wanted Sex Offender, was captured on September 24 in Houston. Working off investigative information, DPS Special Agents, including Special Agents from the Computer Information Technology and Electronic Crimes Unit, located and arrestedGonzalez.
In 2007, Gonzalez was convicted of Sexual Assault of a Child following an incident with a 14-year-old girl and subsequently sentenced to 3 years confinement in prison. In 2012, he was convicted of Failure to Register as a Sex Offender and subsequently sentenced to 2 years confinement in prison.
He had been wanted since February 2024, when a warrant was issued out of Harris County for his arrest for Failure to Comply with Sex Offender Registration Requirements.
George Alen Rogers, a Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitive, was captured on September 24 in Canyon, Texas. Working off investigative information, members of the U.S. Marshals North Texas Fugitive Task Force, including DPS Special Agents, located and arrested Rogers. The Potter County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the fugitive investigation.
Rogers has been arrested multiple times in the past for Sex Offenses involving a child, including an arrest for Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child in 2018 and an arrest for Indecency with a Child by Sexual Contact in 2002.
He had been wanted since April 2024, when a warrant was issued out of Potter County for his arrest for Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child: Victim Under 14 years of age.
