WATCH: Texas Woman Sets Guinness World Record for Widest Tongue

When it comes to the Guinness Book of World Records, you'll find the tallest living human, the fastest person to solve a Rubik's Cube, and the youngest chess Grandmaster.

However, Guinness doesn't discriminate against anyone who wants to prove that they are the best at some very bizarre feats. For instance, there's a guy in England who holds the record for continuous swinging on a swing (36 hours), or how about the dude that holds the record for farthest throw of a washing machine (14+ feet), and there's the guy who set the standard for most candy canes in his beard (187).

Texas Woman Sets New Record

Brittany Lacayo is an attorney in Houston. According to a story on the Guinness World Records website, Lacayo knew that her tongue was larger than normal, but she didn't think it was worthy of any major attention.

Recently, some of her friends showed her a video of the current Guinness record holder for the female with the widest tongue. Emily Shlenker's tongue measures 2.89 inches across.

Brittany thought her tongue just might have a chance to eclipse the record holder for the past 10 years, so she contacted the folks at Guinness. It turns out that the width of Lacayo's tongue (3.11 inches) easily smashed the previous record.

At its widest point, Lacayo's tongue is wider than a hockey puck. By the way, the record holder for the widest tongue (3.49 inches) for a man is Brian Thompson. He is the father of Emily Schlenker, the previous record holder before Lacayo.
