Want To Play College Soccer Now? Angelina College To Host Tryouts

The Angelina College Lady Roadrunner soccer team is getting ready to start their 2023 season and there are still a few open spots on the roster. New Lady Roadrunner head coach Orlando Cervantes is inviting players to a tryout scheduled from 6-7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 22 at the Angelina College soccer complex on the AC campus.

The Lady 'Runners soccer program has grown in leaps and bounds over the past few years, with the team achieving national rankings and, in 2022, just barely missing out on a national tournament bid.

The tryout is open for any high school graduates with remaining collegiate eligibility. Cervantes, who took over the head coaching position just recently, said the audition is open for any and all skill levels. After arriving late in the recruiting season, Cervantes is hoping to find players willing and ready to hit the pitch immediately.

“We want players who desire to become part of a team,” Cervantes said. “We want players willing to work and commit to getting better, and we’ll take care of helping them improve their overall skills.”

Any players selected will be eligible to receive potential financial aid for the upcoming academic semester.

Players are advised to bring their own cleats, shin guards, and water.
