Two Suspects in Jail in East Texas for Stealing at Dollar General

If you commit a crime in Texas, you better be ready to pay the consequences. And it doesn’t matter if you commit a violent crime or steal from dollar stores, law enforcement will catch up with you. 

Last week there were two people that were arrested for theft at multiple Dollar General locations in Smith County, Texas. 

Details on Dollar General Theft Cases in Smith County, Texas 

According to KETK, police officers in Whitehouse were responding to a theft call around 11:30 a.m. on Monday, November 11th, 2024. The call came in from Dollar General on Highway 110, but at that point the suspects had already jumped into their black pickup truck and sped away.  

It was only about 20 minutes later another call was made to law enforcement about a theft at Dollar General on FM 2493 in Flint.  

Officers Determined These Two Cases Were Related 

The details around both cases were very similar. A male and female suspect would both enter the Dollar General and load up a grocery cart full of items and exit the store without paying.  

There have been similar thefts like this in recent weeks, so Smith County law enforcement acted quickly and identified a suspect vehicle and license plate from cameras at the stores.

Vehicle Found in Tyler with Multiple Suspects 

The vehicle in question for these thefts was found in Tyler about an hour after the first call came in from Whitehouse. There were three suspects in the vehicle, two of which were arrested for outstanding warrants. They were identified as 56-year-old Nigel Harris and 58-year-old Aineda Johnson. 

Both were booked on possession of a controlled substance. Harris also was charged with a parole violation, so his bond was set at $150,000. Johnson is being held on a $30,000 bond.   

More charges are expected for both suspects as investigators continue working the case. Both suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty.
