Dog Rescued By Texas Postman After Military Veteran Dies
(Denton, Texas) The world can feel a bit crazy at times, even here in our home state of Texas. But I love to be reminded of all the good things that are going on here too. It’s about focusing on the positive things going on like a Denton, Texas mail carrier who recently saved a dog named Floyd.
How Did the Mail Carrier Meet Floyd?
According to CBS 19, Ian Burke is a mail carrier in Denton and was first introduced to Floyd a few years ago as he was delivering mail on his route to his then owner who was an elderly wheelchair-bound Vietnam veteran.
Burke started looking forward to dropping mail to the veteran and seeing Floyd, but then Burke had his route change and no longer saw Floyd or his owner.

Then the Sad News Came
In early June the mail carrier that took over Burke’s route told him that the veteran passed away, and Floyd was now at the city center waiting to be adopted.

The Texas Mail Carrier Knew What to Do Next
Burke was not going to let Floyd just sit in a kennel with hopes of being adopted. Burke was at the shelter the next day, 10 minutes before the doors were unlocked. And that morning Burke adopted Floyd!
Burke says that he knows the former owner of Floyd would be pleased to know that he is being taken care of and hopes that his story encourages others to consider adopting a dog.
We wish Floyd a happy and healthy future with his new owner Ian Burke.
