With St. Patrick's Day right around the corner, you might want to start thinking about how you want to celebrate. You might head to Shamrock for the big St. Patrick's Day celebration weekend. For some of us, we'll be content with a pint or two of Guinness at our favorite spot. Heads up, if you're in Texas, you'll want to make sure you've got the budget for it.

The price of everything is going up. The most infamous of which, right now, is eggs. What you probably haven't considered is the price of Guinness as we head into St. Patrick's Day.

Last month the cost of a dozen eggs in Texas was $5.43 on average. A pint of Guinness in Texas, according to information gathered by Finance Buzz, costs $7.70 on average. If you need to feel better about the price of eggs, just remind yourself they're still cheaper than a pint of Guinness.

The good news is that the price of a pint of Guinness isn't increasing by a whole lot when compared to previous years. The amount that a pint has gone up is pretty reasonable when you compare it to a lot of other things we're spending money on.

How To Properly Enjoy Your Guinness On St. Patrick's Day

Since you're going to be shelling out some bucks for your St. Patrick's Day Guinness this year, it would make sense that you would want to make the most out of the situation at home.

Here is the proper way to pour your Guinness:

  • If you're pouring from a can, let the can chill for 24 hours first. When you pour, tilt the glass and the bottle at a 45 degree angle. Pour it into the glass in one go and let it settle. You can also flip the can into the glass and slowly lift it.
  • If pouring from a tap, tilt the glass at a 45 degree angle and fill the glass two-thirds of the way. Let it settle. Enjoy.
  • Go somewhere that has it on tap and let the pros pour for you so you don't have to worry about it.

Guinness even has a video to show you how to do it right if you plan on staying in. No matter how you plan to celebrate this weekend and on St. Patrick's Day, do it responsibly. If you go out, get a designated driver or split the cost of a ride.
