Former Angelina County Commissioner Booked Into Angelina County Jail

Bobby Cheshire, 56, a former Angelina County commissioner, is now in the Angelina County Jail. According to the Lufkin Daily News, he was indicted on two first-degree felony charges of aggravated sexual assault of a child in December of 2023.

He was in the Polk County Jail on a bench warrant from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice where he was serving a four-year sentence for continuous assault of a family member. He pled guilty to that charge in 2021.

The charges came from an incident that reportedly occurred at his home in Diboll involving victims under the age of 14.

* Aug. 29, 2019: Arrested for continuous violence against the family, assault, and interference with an emergency call.

* Aug. 30, 2019: Bonded out of jail.

* April 19, 2021: Arrested for second time after order to surrender bond.

* May 18, 2021: Indicted for continuous family violence.

* June 30, 2021: While in jail, a warrant was served on a charge of official oppression.

* July 20, 2021: Visiting Judge John Delaney signed a default judgment order, which removed Cheshire from office.

* Aug. 5, 2021: Pleads no contest to a charge of continuous violence, accepting a four-year prison sentence.

* Jan. 26, 2022: Arrested in Polk County on a charge of aggravated sexual assault of a child.
