Hilton Wants To Build A Hotel On The Loop In Lufkin, Texas
According to the Lufkin Daily News, Hilton Hotels has started the early planning stages of putting a 4-story Home2 Suites by Hilton in the 3000 block of South Medford Drive in Lufkin.
The proposed site is between Cinemark and Lowe's behind Eyemart and Chicken Express. Being close to Olive Garden, Cheddars and Buffalo Wild Wings was one of the things that drew the hotelier to the town and the location.
Once it's built if you have too much fun at Buffalo Wild Wings, you could just walk across the parking lot and get a room. This is fairly close to the Angelina County Chamber of Commerce, it's just across the loop from the location.
Public Hearing Coming For Proposed Hilton Location In Lufkin
There will be a city council meeting with a public hearing on Tuesday, January 17, 2023. If approved it will be considered at the first meeting in February for the second reading. This seems like a slam dunk and a quick approval process, though nothing is certain at this time.
New Extended Stay Hotel Could Be Coming To Lufkin
Lufkin really could use more rooms. During certain times of the year, you would be surprised that all of our local hotels are full.
There are lots of businesses interested in coming to our town recently. The Freddy's that is currently starting dirt work is just a few blocks away from this hotel's proposed location.
This is on the heels of even more good news for Lufkin like STI (Texas Star Industrial Manufacturing) coming to Industrial Drive in an old Lufkin Industries building.
According to KTRE, they will employ a minimum of 75 people at the site. These will all be full-time, primary jobs.
