Family Pet Dies In House Fire In Lufkin, Texas

According to a press release from City of Lufkin Communication Director Jessica Pebsworth, Lufkin Fire responded to a house fire this morning in the 100 block of Gayle Street.

The fire was first reported by a citizen passing by the home at around 9 AM. The Lufkin Fire Department showed up in force with a response time of only 4 minutes.

Once on the scene, firefighters noted flames and heavy smoke coming from the middle of the house. Like all house fires, when LFD arrived they tried to determine if the home was occupied.

A Dog Perished In The Fire At Home On Gayle Street In Lufkin

Lufkin FIre entered the home using the VEIS (vent, enter, isolate, search) method. After officials searched the structure and called the occupants, they determined that no people were inside during the incident.

Firefighters had the fire under control at 9:49 AM. It was extinguished by 10:37 AM. Sadly a dog perished in the fire.

Lufkin Police assisted with traffic control, while firefighters put out the fire. The cause of the blaze is still under investigation by the Lufkin Fire Marshal's Office.
