
Lufkin Toddler Tests Positive for THC Caretaker Arrested
Not much is known about the current condition of the Lufkin area toddler who was rushed to CHI St. Luke on April 29, 2025. According to KTRE, the boy was brought to the hospital when his caretakers noticed he was not waking up.

They determined that he would only respond to "painful stimuli" from the ER nurses and doctors. He tested positive for THC and was transferred to the pediatric ICU at Texas Children's Hospital The Woodlands.
Brianna Rene Lawrence, 19, was one of the women who brought him to the hospital. She admitted to having marijuana containing THC and THC vapes.
Lufkin Woman's House Searched For Marijuana
Investigators found the suspected marijuana and THC vapes when they searched the Lufkin home, according to the arrest affidavit. It was only recently that Lawrence was arrested.
She is still currently in the Angelina County Jail. There is only one offense listed, a state jail felony count of injury to a child by criminal negligence.

The act of non-intentionally letting the boy have access to or be affected by the THC products has landed her in jail for two days so far. Her bond has been set at $20,000.
Hospitals See Rise In Children Exposed To Cannabis
As more and varied kinds of THC products go on sale across the nation in states where they are legal, many Texas hospitals have seen a rise in children being exposed to the drug.
