A man in Wichita Falls, Texas, was almost struck by a metal gutter that seemingly fell hundreds of feet off one of the tall buildings downtown last night.

That man was me.

Wichita Falls man nearly hit by falling metal gutter

So there I was, minding my own business, walking back from the downtown convenience store where I had just purchased a Drumstick ice cream cone. I ran into my friend Nicole, who is the keyboard player for one of my favorite local bands, It Hurts To Be Dead. She told me she was on the way to band practice, and I wished her well as I started walking east on 8th Street.

Just as I got to Indiana, the large metal gutter you can see in the video below came crashing down seemingly out of nowhere. It honestly sounded like a car crash. This thing landed less than ten feet from me. If I walked faster like some kind of nerd, I would probably be dead right now. Luckily, because I walk super-slow and cool, I have lived to see another day.
