A severe storm, bringing high winds and lightning, swept through overnight, knocking out power to thousands and leaving a trail of destruction in its wake.

Footage captured by residents shows multiple transformers exploding, lighting up the dark sky in rapid succession. The bursts of blue and white light, accompanied by loud booms, signaled trouble for the already overwhelmed power grid. Officials report that the storm’s high winds and heavy rain caused significant damage to electrical infrastructure, triggering the chain reaction of transformer failures.

Severe storm sparks massive transformer explosions in Dallas

Local utility crews have been working through the morning to assess the damage and begin repairs, but officials warn that outages could last for hours or even days in some areas. The storm also left downed trees and debris scattered across roads, adding to the challenges of restoring power.
