Tesla Robotaxi Launches in Texas This Sunday
After years of hype, big promises, and internet debates, Tesla is finally putting its robotaxis on the dadgum road. Starting this Sunday, a small number of these self-driving cars will begin operating in Austin, Texas. But don’t expect to see them everywhere just yet. This is only a small test run, with just 10 to 20 vehicles driving in a limited part of the city.
Tesla Self-Driving Cars Hit Austin Roads This Weekend
Tesla has been talking about robotaxis for a long time. Elon Musk, the company’s CEO, has often said that self-driving cars will change the future of transportation. He even predicted that Tesla cars would be able to drive themselves and earn money for their owners while they sleep. So far, that hasn’t happened. But this test in Austin is the first real step toward making that dream a reality.

Here’s what’s happening: Tesla is starting with a slow rollout in one specific area of Austin. The cars will likely have safety drivers in them for now, just in case something goes wrong. The testing zone is limited, and the people riding in the robotaxis will probably be Tesla employees or influencers who are helping with the test.
